Services > Forward Planning When developing a Platelet™ solution for any given situation, equally as important as design and manufacture of the Platelets® themselves is analysis of the pipeline infrastructure through which the Platelets® must travel and numerical modelling of the flow paths they will follow. It is for this reason that Brinker Technology carry out studies of pipelines with no present defects so as to identify the steps that would have to be taken, in the event of a leak, to enable Platelets® to be deployed. The idea is that with a minimal amount of advanced planning, systems can be designed to be “Platelet™ friendly” making future intervention much more straightforward, allowing Platelets® to be deployed rapidly and effectively minimising loss of containment. The aims of this type of study are to: • Assess the suitability of Platelet® deployment • Expert consultancy • Investigate the system infrastructure • Define suitable injection points and methods • Propose potential Platelet® types and materials • Recommend minor design amendments that could enhance Platelet™ capabilities Successful projects of this type carried out to date have examined a variety of systems, from a 42 inch overland pipeline to a 3/8 inch subsea umbilical.
