Technology > Leak Location
A significant advantage of Platelet Technology® is that it enables leaks to be sealed and then located in one integrated process.

There are two specific methods of locating leaks in pipelines using Platelet Technology®, namely by tagging the Platelets® or by remote pressure monitoring.

Tagging involves embedding a device into the Platelets® which enables them to be detected either internally by pigging the line or externally by use of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Two successful tagging methods demonstrated to date are Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Radioactive Tagging.

Remote pressure monitoring relies on detecting the alteration in the pipelines pressure field which accompanies a Platelet® leak sealing event. Analysis of this information allows the leak location to be accurately pinpointed.
