Technology > Leak Sealing
Platelets® are designed so as they are carried along with the flow in the line; when they reach the vicinity of a leak, fluid forces entrain a number of them into the leak thus providing a seal.

Leak sealing techniques are usually based around external procedures such as wrapping and clamping which require direct access to the leak location; for some infrastructure, such as umbilicals and bundles, this type of external approach may be impossible. A Platelet® seal however works with the pressure in the line providing an internal solution which can be deployed remotely. For any operation the maximum amount of technical development which the timeframe permits will be carried out to give the highest chance of a successful Platelet® deployment; this includes Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis, backed up by extensive physical testing.
